Santa Clara, Calif. - Northwestern Baseball took an early lead on Sunday afternoon, but couldn't hold off Santa Clara as the Broncos took the series with a 7-2 victory at Stephen Schott Stadium.
Freshman catcher Bennett Markinson connected for his first home run of season in the first inning, as a solo shot from the California native put the Wildcats ahead early on Santa Clara. The only other offense from Northwestern would come in the ninth inning, as Ethan O'Donnell continued his strong series with an RBI single to score Anthony Calarco.
The 2021 Big Ten All-Freshman team member hit .500 with eight hits, three doubles and three RBIs against the Broncos.
