'Cats Fend Off Scarlet Knights In Overtime Thriller

EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern came out victorious in an overtime thriller against Rutgers, 79-78. It is the Wildcats' first overtime victory since defeating Nebraska in an extra period on March 1, 2020. 
 
Boo Buie led the way for Northwestern with 18 points, including six of the 'Cats' nine points in OT.  The 'Cats move to 10-10 on the season.
 
Chris Collins now has seven wins against Rutgers, tying the most over a single opponent while head coach of the Wildcats.
 
Robbie Beran scored 11 points on 4-of-6 shooting and added four rebounds and two steals. It is the third game of Beran's career that he has recorded two steals against a Big Ten opponent.
 
Chase Audige chipped in 15 points, seven rebounds, and three steals, his third game this season with at least three steals. Audige is second in the Big Ten at 1.8 steals per game.
 
Julian Roper II tied his career-high with eight points, all of which came in his first 10 minutes played, and posted a career-high five assists.
 
The 'Cats look to keep their momentum rolling on Saturday as they travel to Lincoln to take on Nebraska. Tip-off is scheduled for noon CT, with coverage live on Big Ten Network.
