Evanston, Ill. -  Northwestern took No. 22 Iowa down to the wire on Saturday night at Ryan Field, but couldn't complete the comeback in a 17-12 setback to the Hawkeyes.

Evan Hull continued his impressive sophomore campaign with a career-high six receptions out of the Northwestern backfield. His 31-yard touchdown made it a one-score game inside the final three minutes in Evanston.

Andrew Marty made his first start of the 2021 season, throwing for 270 yards and a touchdown. It was Marty's first start since Northwestern's 29-10 win over Illinois on Nov. 30, 2019.

Defensively, the Wildcats held Iowa to just a pair of third-down conversions. Chris Bergin finished with 10 tackles, marking the fourth-consecutive game and the seventh time this season with 10+ tackles for the senior.

Raymond Niro III blocked his first career punt to give the Wildcats their first punt block since Nov. 3, 2018 against Notre Dame.

The Wildcats are back in action on Saturday, as Northwestern travels to Madison to take on No. 21 Wisconsin.
