EVANSTON, Ill. – The Wildcats earned their second Big Ten victory with a 3-0 performance over No. 19 Ohio State.

Northwestern's offense was stifling, putting up 23 shots, 13 of which were on goal, to just three from the Buckeyes. The Wildcats kept the pressure on the Ohio State defense, earning  four corners as well. Maren Seidel was the fire behind Northwestern's success, putting up two goals and an assist.

The 'Cats got on the board late in the first quarter on their first corner opportunity when Maddie Zimmer redirected a rocket from Seidel straight into the cage. Seidel held onto that momentum and doubled the lead just before halftime with a beautiful solo goal straight into the top corner after intercepting a Buckeye pass.

A 2-0 lead going into the second half wasn't enough for Seidel and she sent another hard shot into the high corner to bring the game out of reach for Ohio State. Northwestern played a measured final quarter, keeping the ball out of their defensive third and securing the win.

The 'Cats will stay at home for the weekend and face Michigan State at Lakeside Field on Sunday at noon.
