Wildcats Blank DePaul for Derby Win

EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern put together a complete performance at Martin Stadium to knock off DePaul 2-0 in a Chicago Derby Wednesday Night. 

The 'Cats improved to 3-5-2 on the season while dropping DePaul to 5-3. 

The Wildcats struck in the first half on a perfectly worked set piece. Graduate Spencer Farina scored on a header on a delivery from junior Vicente Castro. The goal was his first of the season and first as a Wildcat, while Castro recorded his team-high third assist of the season.

The 'Cats scored their second on a sweetly struck volley from sophomore Justin Weiss. On a pass from Castro, Weisss took one touch to spin past his defender before uncorking a rocket to the top corner. The goal was his team-high fourth of the season.

Miha Miskovic started in goal, but recorded a shutout without making a save, thanks to the efforts of the Wildcat backline led by Farina, Quinn Dudek. Deng Deng Kur and Ibraheim Obeid. 

The Wildcats continue their homestand at Martin Stadium on Sunday when they take on Ohio State. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. CT and will be streamed on B1G+.
