EVANSTON, ILL. - Senior Rachel McCardell was named Big Ten Athlete of the Week, the conference announced on Wednesday. She earns the recognition after her dominating performance at the Red Bird Invitational last weekend.
McCardell claimed the victory finishing 17 seconds ahead of the second-place runner with a time of 20:20.7 on the 6K course to set a new personal record.
This is her first Big Ten Athlete of the Week honor.
McCardell and the Wildcats resume competition on Oct. 1 at the Joe Paine Invite in South Bend, IN.
