INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Northwestern could not mount a comeback after a first-half deficit and ultimately fell 3-1 to Butler on the road on Thursday night.
Senior Haley Lawson scored the goal for the Wildcats on an 83rd minute header on a cross from Olivia Stone.
The Wildcats recorded 12 shots and six on goal but their second half dominance did not translate in time to make inroads toward the result. They moved to 0-2 on the season after two Big East Road trips.
Regan Steigleder, Julietta Thron and Josie Aulicino led the Wildcat offense with two shots apiece.
Northwestern continues its four-game road swing to open the season on Sunday, when it takes on William and Mary. Kickoff is set for 11 a.m. CT.
