FULL BRACKET

EVANSTON, Ill. —
Northwestern women's lacrosse is out to claim its eighth national championship as the Wildcats have earned a No. 2 seed in the 2021 NCAA Women's Lacrosse Tournament. The Wildcats will host the winner of Stanford/Denver on Sunday, May 16 at Noon CT.

This is Northwestern's 22nd NCAA tournament berth and 17th consecutive appearance. The Wildcats are 45-14 overall in NCAA tournament action with Combe Family Head Lacrosse Coach Kelly Amonte Hiller boasting a 44-9 (.830) mark in those games.

Northwestern is in the midst of a perfect season, owning a 13-0 overall record with both the Big Ten regular season and tournament championships in hand. The Wildcats are ranked second nationally in both the IWLCA and Inside Lacrosse polls.

The 2021 season has seen an offensive explosion for the Wildcats. Northwestern owns the top scoring offense in the country, averaging 20.62 goals per game, while also leading all of college lacrosse in points per game(29.38), draw controls per game (19.31), shots per game (30.23) and shots on goal per game (30.23). The Wildcats' 9.92 scoring margin is the third-best in the country.

Individually, Amonte Hiller was named Big Ten Coach of the Year, while junior Izzy Scane was the unanimous Big Ten Attacker of the Year. The junior attacker has scored 81 goals in 13 games for an average of 6.23 goals per game, over half a goal per game better than the NCAA record 5.71 goals per game set in 1996. She also leads the nation in points, shots and shots on goal per game. Scane set a new program record earlier this season with 10 goals in a 22-10 win over Rutgers on March 19.

The Clarkston, Michigan native was named Big Ten Freshman of the Year in 2019 and was a second team All-American last year. She was one of four Wildcats named to the 2021 All-Big Ten first team last week, alongside Lauren Gilbert, Lindsey McKone and Ally Palermo, and is one of the 25 nominees for the Tewaaraton Award, the highest award in women's lacrosse. Scane is the second-straight Wildcat to unanimously win the Big Ten Attacker of the Year Award after Selena Lasota did so in 2019. No Big Ten awards were handed out after the 2020 season.

In consideration of all current Evanston and Illinois regulations and social distancing recommendations, and with priority given to invited guests of Wildcats student-athletes and coaches, Northwestern can not accommodate public attendance at this time.
