'Cats Drop Weekend Opener to Maryland

IOWA CITY, Iowa — Northwestern dropped a 2-1 decision on Saturday evening after knocking seven hits vs. Maryland in Iowa city.
 
The Wildcats fell to 12-13 on the campaign while Maryland improved to 15-13. After Northwestern scored one in the bottom of the second, the Terps countered with a pair in the top of the third. Ethan O'Donnell drove in the lone run for the 'Cats on a double. Shawn Goosenberg and Leo Kaplan each notched a stolen base.

Mike Doherty got the nod and tossed 5.0 innings, striking out five while only walking one.
 
The 'Cats have a double header against Maryland at noon followed by a contest with Iowa.
