EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern softball fell to Minnesota in a tight double-header on Sunday at Sharon J. Drysdale field. The 'Cats drop to 18-6 on the season.
In game one, the Wildcats took Minnesota to extra inning for the second time in the series behind a brilliant start from Danielle Williams. Williams tossed seven innings of one-run ball, before allowing the go-ahead run to score in the eighth inning.
Skyler Shellmyer had a team-high two hits and scored the Wildcats' lone run on a first inning single from Jordyn Rudd.
The 'Cats fell 10-4 in game two despite home runs from Jordyn Rudd and Rachel Lewis. Rudd was 3-for-4 in the game, while Shellmyer recorded two hits again for her seventh multi-hit game of the year.
Chicago's Big Ten Team heads back on the road next weekend to take on Iowa for a four-game series. First pitch of the weekend is set for 3 p.m. CT on Friday.
