Scane Named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week

EVANSTON, Ill. — After helping Northwestern women's lacrosse clinch a share of the Big Ten regular season title, Izzy Scane was named the league's offensive player of the week.

Izzy Scane, Northwestern
Jr. – A – Clarkston, Mich. – Cranbrook Kingswood
  • Scored a combined 14 goals and three assists for 17 total points in back-to-back wins against No. 7 Maryland last weekend. Helped the No. 3 Wildcats improve to 9-0 on the season and clinch a share of the 2021 Big Ten title, the first in school history.
  • Tied a career high with 12 points (nine goals and three assists) in the Wildcats' 25-12 win over Maryland on March 27, while also tying for the second-most points in a game in Northwestern history. Scane previously registered 12 points in this year's season opener vs. Ohio State (Feb. 14, 2021) and her 12 points on both occasions trail only Kate Oleykowski's 13 vs. Ball State on May 3, 1987. Helped Northwestern register the third-most goals in a game in program history (25).
  • In Northwestern's second contest against Maryland, with the game tied 7-7 at halftime, scored five goals in the second half to help the Wildcats go on a 13-3 run and secure a 20-10 victory. The win gave Northwestern a share of the 2021 Big Ten Conference title, marking the Wildcats' first Big Ten championship in program history.
  • Currently leads the country in goals (56), goals per game (6.22) and points per game (7.78). Is on pace to set new Northwestern single-season records in both goals per game and points per game.
  • Scane has recorded the most points in a game in all of Division I this season, having twice notched 12 (nine goals and three assists) vs. Ohio State (Feb. 14, 2021) and vs. Maryland (March 27, 2021). Scane's 10 goals earlier in the year against Rutgers (March 19, 2021) are tied with Hofstra's Alyssa Parrella (10 vs. Villanova) for the most in a single-game in the nation this season.
  • Garners her fourth career Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week honor. Was named Big Ten Freshman of the Year in 2019 and earned the conference's Freshman of the Week honor six times that season.
  • Last Northwestern Offensive Player of the Week: Izzy Scane (March 23, 2021)
