ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Northwestern took down the Michigan Wolverines, 1-0, on Monday afternoon in an overtime thriller.
First-year Maddie Zimmer scored the game-winning goal for the Wildcats after working her way to an opening in the center of the circle and converting on a missle of a shot to seal the win.
Zimmer now has three goals on the season. She is one of five Wildcats on the season to have scored mutliple goals, joining Ana Medina Garcia and Bente Baekers (three) as well as Peyton Halsey and Mackenize Keegan (four).
Annabel Skubisz made the start at goalie and recorded four saves in 67 minutes of action to secure the shutout, marking the Wildcats' third shutout victory over the last four games.
Northwestern returns to action on Friday, March 26 as the 'Cats play host to Ohio State at Lakeside Field for the first of a two-game weekend series. Start time is slated for 1 pm CT, with coverage live on Big Ten Network+.
