EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern dropped a close 1-0 matchup to the defending Big Ten Champions, Wisconsin Badgers, on Thursday evening at Ryan Fieldhouse.
The Wildcats were very aggressive in the first half, earning a season-high six first-half corner kicks. Coming into the game, the Wildcats had only had 11 first-half corners. The Wildcats dominated the stat sheet, outshooting the Badgers nine to five and finishing with one more shot on goal.
Danika Austin helped anchor the Wildcats defensively, thwarting numerous opportunities on the right wing. The Wildcats only allowed one shot on goal the entire game, the lowest total they have allowed since Aug. 22, 2019 against SMU.
Northwestern now sits at 3-4 on the season. The Wildcats will be back in action this Sunday as they play host to the Nebraska Cornhuskers, beginning at noon CT.
