Eight 'Cats to Support Uplifting Athletes at NFL Pro Day

Evanston, Ill. (March 3, 2020) – For the seventh consecutive year, Uplifting Athletes is empowering NFL prospects with the opportunity to use their NFL Pro Day as a platform to give back by raising funds and awareness in support of the Rare Disease Community.

Reps For Rare Diseases has been used as a way for athletes to give back at a pivotal point in their quest to play at the highest level as they put their skills on display for NFL teams.

Eight former Northwestern Wildcat football players are using the next step toward their NFL dream as an opportunity to use their platform and make a difference.

Each former Northwestern standout is running a 2021 Reps For Rare Diseases campaign for their upcoming NFL workout on March 9th to support Uplifting Athletes.

Former Northwestern standouts offensive tackle Rashawn Slater, cornerback Greg Newsome II, defensive end Earnest Brown IV, linebacker Blake Gallagher, quarterback Peyton Ramsey, linebacker Paddy Fisher, offensive lineman Gunnar Vogel and wide receiver Riley Lees have each chosen to launch individual campaigns this year.

Fans and supporters can pledge to any one or all eight players for each bench press repetition or vertical or broad jump inch they perform at the Wildcats NFL Pro Day by visiting the Northwestern 2021 Uplifting Athletes Reps For Rare Diseases page.

Since its inception in 2015, more than 150 players have participated in this campaign through either the NFL Combine or NFL Pro Day workouts.

Proceeds from all Reps For Rare Diseases campaigns support Uplifting Athletes and its commitment to create Uplifting Leaders, engage in Uplifting Experiences, fund Rare Disease Research, and expand Rare Disease Awareness.

Horizon Therapeutics plc and Uplifting Athletes are teaming up again for the 2021 Reps for Rare Diseases campaign. Horizon will match donations up to $35,000 through its #RAREis program, which is dedicated to providing individuals living with a rare disease and families access to resources that connect, inform and educate as they navigate their daily lives.

A nonprofit organization founded in 2007, Uplifting Athletes inspires the Rare Disease Community with hope through the power of sport. A rare disease is one that affects fewer than 200,000 Americans and typically lacks financial incentive to make and market new treatments. Uplifting Athletes fulfills its mission through a network of college football student-athlete led chapters, Uplifting Ambassadors and Team UA participants. Since its inception, Uplifting Athletes has raised more than $5 million to support the mission of Uplifting Athletes and its charitable programs: Rare Disease Awareness, Rare Disease Research, Uplifting Experiences and Uplifting Leaders.
