Scane Earns Second Big Ten Weekly Honors of the Season

EVANSTON, Ill. – Junior Izzy Scane was named Co-Big Ten Offensive Player of the week after her performance in Northwestern's sweep over Johns Hopkins.

On Friday the Wildcats took down the Blue Jays 17-8 before finding an 18-9 victory the following Sunday. In both games, Scane led the field in scoring. In their first match against Johns Hopkins, Scane also tied for a game high two assists to go along with her four goals. On Sunday, she put up a back-to-back trio of goals to start a 5-0 run, en route to her seven goals on the day.

Scane has now racked up an impressive 20 goals in just three games, which leads the nation. She also sits on top of the Big Ten in points per game at 8.33, and in goals per game at 6.67. Last year, Scane led the 'Cats with 29 goals in seven games; a mark she's on track to beat sooner rather than later.

This is Scane's second Big Ten honor of the season after being named the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week and IWCLA National Player of the Week for her career performance against Ohio State, where she posted nine goals and three assists.

Northwestern will return to Ryan Fieldhouse on Friday at 6 p.m. to face Penn State, the only other undefeated team in the Big Ten Conference. Last time the Wildcats faced Penn State, Scane found the back of the net four times and contributed three assists, helping the 'Cats to a 19-11 victory.
