Northwestern Falls to Iowa in Five Sets

EVANSTON, Ill.- Despite fighting out of a 2-0 deficit, Northwestern fell 3-2 to Iowa in a hard-fought battle. The Wildcats moved to 2-3 on the season following the defeat.
 
The first two sets were tightly contested, each surpassing 25 points. The 'Cats fell in the first set 26-24 and lost an incredible back-and-forth battle in the second set, 39-37.
 
Despite the 2-0 deficit, Northwestern continued to battle, taking the third set 25-23 and the fourth 25-17.
 
The 'Cats were unable to hold on to their momentum and dropped the fifth set 15-11.
 
First-year Alex Rousseau had a breakout game at setter for the Wildcats. The Bloomfield Hills, Mich. native recorded her first six career kills along with 55 assists, the most for a Wildcat since Britt Bommer had 69 assists against Iowa on Oct. 24, 2018.
 
Temi Thomas-Ailara led the offensive attack with a season-high 26 kills and collected 13 digs to support the defensive effort.
 
Megan Miller had a team-high 15 digs and Alana Walker led the 'Cats with seven blocks.
 
Northwestern looks to get back on track tomorrow in a rematch against Iowa at Welsh-Ryan Arena. Start time is set for 5 p.m. CT and will be live-streamed on BTN+ and broadcast on WNUR.
