Wildcats Topple No. 9 Ohio State to Close out ITA Indoors

STILLWATER, Okla. – No. 13 Northwestern came back to defeat No. 9 Ohio State to finish their weekend at the ITA Indoor Team National Championships on Sunday. 

After clinching the doubles point, the Wildcats faced off in five three-set singles matches. Down 3-1, the 'Cats completed comebacks from a set down thanks to Julie Byrne, Briana Crowley and Caroline Pozo. 

Pozo clinched the match in a decisive third set tiebreaker by a 7-4 score. 

Northwestern won the doubles point thanks to wins from Christina Hand and Crowley at No. 2 and Clarissa Hand and Maria Shusharina at No. 3. The Wildcats will look to carry their momentum from the first two weeks of the season into the upcoming Big Ten campaign.
