EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern swept Rutgers 3-0 for the second straight night at Welsh-Ryan Arena on Saturday to move to 2-0 on the young season.
The Wildcats handled the Scarlet Knights, taking the sets by scores of 25-14, 25-15, and 25-21.
Sophomore Temi Thomas-Ailara led all attackers on the night with 16 kills, coming a .344 hitting percentage. Abryanna Cannon added 14 kills on an efficient .480 clip, including three aces.
Kiara McNulty collected 29 assists on the night along with 11 digs for her second double-double in as many games this season.
Megan Miller led the team defensively with 13 digs.
Overall, the 'Cats outhit the visitors .293 to .095 on the night, and owned a 6-0 service ace advantage.
The Wildcats are back in action with a two-game stretch at No. 5 Nebraska on Friday and Saturday. First serve times will be available soon.
