'Cats Douse Flames in Midweek Clash

CHICAGO, Ill. – Northwestern picked up an 8-2 midweek win over crosstown foes UIC on Tuesday at Les Miller Field at Curtis Granderson Stadium.

Seven Wildcats picked up hits on the afternoon, including two each from Jack Anderson, Michael Trautwein and Stephen Hrustich. Anderson knocked in two runs with a bases loaded single in the seventh, while junior David Dunn also picked up two RBI courtesy of a two-run home run in the first inning.

First year Jack Dyke earned the first win of his career while pitching the final seven innings out of the bullpen. Dyke allowed just two runs and striking out six.

Senior Hank Christie started in his season debut and enjoyed a scoreless return to the mound, throwing two innings with two strikeouts.

The 'Cats improved to 4-6 on the season ahead of three games this weekend back in South Carolina, where the 'Cats earned a series win two weekends ago. They will face Western Carolina on Friday at 11 a.m. in Spartanburg, before playing two games at South Carolina Upstate on Saturday and Sunday.
