Northwestern Takes Down Nebraska in Overtime, 81-76

LINCOLN, Neb. - Miller Kopp went off for 21 points to lift the Wildcats to a 81-76 overtime victory in Nebraska on Sunday afternoon. 

Kopp led the 'Cats in scoring for the seventh time this season on 8-for-14 shooting. Sunday marks the fifth time in his career he's posted a 20-plus point performance. 

Pat Spencer also contributed 12 points, 10 of which came in the second half and overtime periods to go along with six boards. Boo Buie dished out a career-high seven assists with 15 points. Sophomore Pete Nance was dominant on the glass, grabbing 14 rebounds, a new career-high. 

Kopp fired on all cylinders in the first half scoring 14 points on 5-of-9 shooting. The Wildcats' hands were active in the first half with three 'Cats grabbing two steals. After an 11-0 run midway through the first stanza, the Wildcats never lost the lead, finishing the half up 37-34.

Buie and Spencer contributed eight points a piece in the second half, keeping things close with the Cornhuskers to eventually send the game into overtime, 67-67. 

The Wildcats opened overtime on a 7-0 run but Nebraska cut the deficit to two with .22 seconds left. Two clutch free throws from Ryan Young iced the games for the 'Cats, he finished with 10 points and was a perfect 4-for-4 from the line. 

Northwestern swept Nebraska in the regular season meetings for the first time since 2016-17. NU's first season sweep of a Big Ten opponent since beating Minnesota twice in 2017-18.

Chicago's Big Ten Team continues their road stint on Wednesday as they travel to take on Wisconsin. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. CT.
