EVANSTON, Ill. — Kelly Sim added another honor on the heels of her first collegiate victory, garnering Big Ten Golfer of the Week honors Wednesday.
Sim captured her first collegiate win at the 11th annual Bruin Wave Invitational at the San Luis Obispo Country Club. She set a tournament record in the opening round with a 5-under 67, matching the 14th-best single round in program history.
She closed Monday with another round in the 60s, carding a 3-under 69 before clinching the title in the final round by finishing with a 54-hole total of 211 — the 14th-best score in NU history.
The sophomore led the field in birdies (13) and par-4 scoring (-1) and was tied for third among all competitors in par-3 scoring (1-over) and par-5 scoring (5-under).
This marks the second time this spring a Wildcat has earned Big Ten Golfer of the Week honors as first year Irene Kim earned the plaudit following her victory at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic.
