Dominant Second Half Performance Propels Wildcats Over Penn State, 82-59

EVANSTON, Ill. - No. 23 Northwestern dominated in another conference win Saturday afternoon, defeating Penn State 82-59 at the Bryce Jordan Center.

This victory brings the Wildcats to 9-2 in the Big Ten and keeps them in second place just behind Iowa. The 'Cats are 19-3 overall this season.

Northwestern put up a tough fight with in the first half staying neck and neck and Penn State taking a small lead in the first half. The 'Cats had great help from Senior Abbie Wolf with 11 points and 4 boards, sophomore Veronica Burton with 9 points and 4 assists, and junior Lindsey Pulliam with 8 points.

The 'Cats came out strong in the second securing a strong lead with powerful performances from Pulliam with 11 points and 6 boards, Burton with 10 points, 4 boards, and 3 assists, and senior Abi Scheid with 10 points. At the end of the game, Pulliam and Burton led the team with 19 points each, with Wolf close behind with 15 points. 

Northwestern outscored Penn 45-21 in the second half leading another win against Penn State, and only three points shy from matching their score their last game against Penn State. The Wildcats defense shined by keeping their opponents to 36.9% on FG scoring and 25% for threes. 

Northwestern will return to action on Monday, when they host Michigan State at Welsh-Ryan Arena.  Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. CT.
