EVANSTON, Ill. — After earning her first collegiate title with the third-best tournament score in program history, first year Irene Kim has been named the Big Ten Golfer of the Week.
Kim set the third-best 54-hole mark in NU history with a 9-under, 207, to claim the Lady Puerto Rico Classic. This is Kim's first career Big Ten Golfer of the Week honor.
A native of La Palma, California, Kim scored under par in all three rounds. She opened the tournament with a 3-under, 69, carded a 1-under, 71, in the second round and capped the tournament with a career-best 5-under, 67. Her final round 67 matched the 14th-best single round in program history.
Kim's performance was key in the Wildcats claiming the Lady Puerto Rico Classic by six shots, their first tournament win of the 2019-20 campaign. She led the field in Par-4 scoring at 5-under.
Chicago's Big Ten Team will be back in action when it travels to the Bruin/Wave Invitational in San Luis Obisipo, California, Feb. 24-25.
