'Cats Fall Against Wolverines, 3-2

EVANSTON, IL - The Wildcats fought hard at Welsh-Ryan Arena on Saturday night, but were unable to snag the win and fell to Michigan 3-2
 
First year Desiree Becker led the team, posting a career high of 15 kills. Junior Nia Robinson followed closely behind with 14 kills against the Wolverines.
 
The game was tightly contested, each team matching the other point for point. The 'Cats started the first set with an 8-1 run before Michigan brought it back and claimed the set. In the second set, senior Sarah Johnson returned to play with the 'Cats, putting some wind in their sails as Northwestern took the second set, 25-23.
 
Michigan won the third set, but the Wildcats responded and took the fourth set. Sophomore Ella Gbrac and Robinson stole the show with amazing kills that put Northwestern in the lead.
 
Despite some great kills by Becker in the fifth set, the 'Cats were unable to keep up their momentum, allowing Michigan to take the final set 15-8.
 
The Wildcats will travel West for their next Big 10 match up against Nebraska on Wednesday at 8 p.m.
