NEWTON, Mass. – Northwestern went to overtime for a third-straight game on Sunday afternoon, but ultimately came up short in a 4-3 setback vs. Maine in a game played at Boston College on Sunday afternoon.
The Wildcats evened the game with just over four minutes to play in regulation after a goal from Ana Medina Garcia on a rebound off a corner, her second of the season. Medina Garcia also added an assist in the first half.
As a team, the Wildcats outshot the Black Bears, 15-10, and had nine penalty corner attempts compared to four from Maine.
Bente Baekers continued her hot streak in the first half, scoring her 17th goal of the season off of a penalty corner. Medina Garcia and Kirsten Mansfield each added assists, marking the 11th of the season for Mansfield.
Saar de Breij also converted on her fifth goal of the season in the third quarter off a shot from the post.
The Wildcats will look to bounce back this Friday when they head on the road for a matchup at Penn State beginning at 5:30 p.m. CT.
