Senior defensive end Joe Gaziano came up with a big sack early in the first quarter to push Iowa on the edge of field goal range, where the Hawkeyes ultimately missed a 46-yard attempt. The sack was Gaziano's 5.5 of the season and leaves him at 26.5 in his career. He is 1.5 shy of Casey Dailley's program record of 28 career sacks.
Iowa opened the scoring in the first quarter when Nate Stanley found Tyrone Tracy for a 50-yard touchdown pass. The Hawkeyes extended their lead to 10-0 in the second quarter with a 40-yard field goal from Keith Duncan.
Blake Gallagher led NU and racked up double-digit tackles (10) for the second time this season and eighth time in his career. Greg Newsome II tallied a career high nine tackles.
Aidan Smith completed 18 passes for 138 yards. Ramaud Chiaokhiao-Bowman matched his career-high with four receptions. Isaiah Bowser and Jace James each hauled in three receptions. James' three receptions and 21 yards receiving were a career high.
