Northwestern Falls to No. 7 Wisconsin

Evanston, Ill. -- Northwestern battled Big Ten rival No. 7 Wisconsin on Wednesday, falling in a three set match on Wednesday evening at Welsh-Ryan Arena.
 
First-year Temi Thomas-Ailara led the 'Cats for her 14th consecutive game with 17 kills and four blocks. This also marks the rookie's 14th consecutive game with double-digit kills. Kiara McNulty contributed 27 assists and Lexi Pitsas tallied 10 digs.
 
The first set was back-and-forth for the Big Ten teams. The Badgers fell into a 3-point grove near the middle of the set to secure a small lead. After a kill by Thomas-Ailara, the 'Cats gained the advantage. The set ended with two kills by Nia Robinson before the Badgers sealed a 25-23 victory.
 
The 'Cats started off the second set with a quick kill by Danyelle Williams. After falling into a 5-point deficit, Thomas-Ailara, Desiree Becker and Williams each secured a point for the Wildcats. Wisconsin wrapped up the set, 25-15.
 
Chicago's Big Ten Team put up a strong fight in the final set with nine kills and two blocks before ultimately falling to the Badgers, 25-19.
 
The Wildcats will return to Welsh-Ryan on Saturday to face No. 20 Purdue at 7 p.m. for the annual Dig Pink match.
