EVANSTON, Ill. — The Northwestern women's golf program, led by 12th-year head coach Emily Fletcher, will kick off the 2019-20 season at the Glass City Invitational hosted by the University of Toledo September 16-17.
The Wildcats will take on the Par 72, 6,249-yard Inverness Country Club with a lineup that features three returners from last year's NCAA Championship qualifying squad that finished 13th. Returners for the 'Cats include All-Big Ten performers Brooke Riley and Kelly Sim, as well as sophomore Kelly Su. First year Irene Kim and sophomore Jane Lu will round out the lineup, while junior Julia Tournant will compete as an individual.
The 54-hole tournament will be played on Monday-Tuesday, Sept. 16-17. An 7:45 a.m. shotgun start will open the tournament on Monday with an 7:00 a.m. tee time start scheduled for Tuesday. The event is open to the public with free parking.
The field includes four teams In this year's Women's Golf Coaches Association preseason poll, including No. 8 Florida, the 15th-ranked Wildcats, No. 16 Illinois and No. 19 Michigan State. Also receiving votes in the poll were Baylor, Furman and Ohio State. The host Rockets, Coastal Carolina, Michigan, South Florida and Wisconsin round out the field.
The final portion of the tournament will air on ESPN3. The coverage will begin at 11 a.m. CT and conclude with the finish of the tournament.
