'Cats Drop 4-1 Decision to No. 4 UConn

PALO ALTO, Calif. — No. 15 Northwestern dropped a 4-1 decision to No. 4 UConn Saturday afternoon.
 
Northwestern (1-1) tallied seven shots in the contest, five of which were on net. Lakin Barry scored the Wildcats' lone goal at the 45-minute mark. Kayla Blas and Kirsten Mansfield were credited with an assist.
 
UConn jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first quarter and never looked back.
 
Florien Marcussen made five saves in the effort.
 
Northwestern returns to action on Monday, Sept. 2, when it battles California at 1 p.m. CT.
