PALO ALTO, Calif. — No. 15 Northwestern added to the win column on Monday afternoon with a 3-0 shutout victory over Cal.
With the victory, Northwestern improves to 2-1 on the campaign. Florien Marcussen made two saves in the contest to give the 'Cats its first shutout of the season.
Bente Baekers, Lakin Barry and Maren Seidel each found the back of the net in the win. Baekers has a team-best three goals on the season. Kayla Blas, Kirsten Mansfield and Alia Marshall picked up assists in the effort.
Northwestern dominated the game offensively, outshooting the Golden Bears by a 18-4 margin. Eleven of NU's 18 shots were on target.
The Wildcats will return to Evanston to open up its home schedule next weekend with games against Duke (Sept. 6) and Boston College (Sept. 8).
