EVANSTON, Ill. — For the fourth consecutive year, the Northwestern men's basketball program earned the Team Academic Excellence Award from the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) for its accomplishments in the classroom during the 2018-19 season.
The award is bestowed to programs that maintain a team cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher during the past academic career. The Wildcats are one of two teams from the Big Ten Conference represented on the list.
Four Northwestern men's basketball student-athletes were named to the NABC Honors Court, including Barret Benson, Aaron Falzon, Charlie Hall and Tino Malnati. In order to be named to the Honors Court a student-athlete must be a junior or senior academically, own a GPA of 3.2 or higher at the conclusion of the 2018-19 academic year and must have matriculated at least one year at their current institution.
