SACRAMENTO, Calif. —
Northwestern cross country star Aubrey Roberts culminated her stellar junior season with a 17th-place finish in the 5,000-meter at the NCAA West Regional Preliminaries Saturday night.

Roberts crossed the finish line in an outdoor season-best time of 16:03.44 to move up 15 spots as she entered the race with the 32nd-fastest qualifying time among the competitors.

The Eau Claire, Wisconsin, native needed to finish in the top-12 to advance to the 2019 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Austin, Texas.

The race wraps up a junior campaign in which Roberts became the first-ever Northwestern female cross country All-American and first Indoor Track All-American in program history. She has rewritten the record books during her three years with the Wildcats and will return to lead a rising program in the fall of 2019.
