ORLANDO, Fla. – The Northwestern doubles team of Nick Brookes and Simen Bratholm defeated the No.5-8 ranked duo of Harrison Scott and Christian Sigsgaard of Texas in the opening round of the 2019 NCAA Doubles Championship.
The Wildcat team came out strong, besting their opponents 7-5 in the first set. Texas took the second set 2-6, but the 'Cats fought back taking the tie breaker 10-8.
Brookes and Bratholm will advance to the Round of 16 where they will face Mississippi State's Niclas Braun and Giovanni Oradini. The Mississippi State duo is coming off of a 2-6, 7-6, 10-6 win over Texas Tech's Bjorn Thomson and Parker Wynn.
The Round of 16 is set to begin tomorrow with matches throughout the day. Match times to be announced.
