'Cats Fall to Louisville, Back in Regional Action Saturday Night

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern mounted a late rally but fell short in a 2-1 defeat to Louisville in their NCAA Regional on Saturday afternoon at Drysdale Field.

The Wildcats will play later Saturday night in game five of the regional 30 minutes of after the conclusion of game four. The Wildcats will face the winner of game four between Southern Illinois and Detroit Mercy in an elimination game. 

Danielle Williams threw 7.0 innings and allowed two hits while striking out ten.

The Wildcats had four hits and six walks offensively, but could only muster one run in the bottom of the seventh. Down 2-0 with two outs and a runner on first, Maeve Nelson delivered a double to score Morgan Nelson and halve the deficit. Cuchran smoked a ground ball towards the middle in the next at bat, but Louisville made the putout to secure the win.
