EVANSTON, Ill. — Northwestern wrestling was ranked 12th in the NWCA Scholar All-American Team list, the top spot among Big Ten squads.
Per the NWCA, the squad's calculated GPA was 3.30. This award has been handed out by the NWCA since 1991 and the GPA mark is NU's highest ever, surpassing last year's high watermark of 3.24.
NU's rank of 12th in the nation is up eight spots from last season.
In addition, Ryan Deakin and Tyler Morland were named NWCA Scholar All-Americans, an award that combines academic and athletic prowess.
The Wildcats finished the season strong on the mat as Deakin and Sebastian Rivera both claimed NCAA All-American honors at the National Championships in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
