EVANSTON, Ill. — First year Clarissa Hand earned an at-large berth to the 2019 NCAA Division I women's tennis singles championship, which will be held May 20-25 at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida, after the conclusion of the team championship.
Hand has played all but one dual match at the No. 1 singles position. She is NU's highest-ranked singles player at No. 40 and owns 12 singles victories at the top spot in her first campaign – the most by any Big Ten rookie.
The Moorestown, N.J., native claimed six wins against players in the latest ITA top-125, including three against players in the top-10.
Draws for the singles tournament will be released at a later date.
Northwestern battles Princeton on Friday, May 3, at 4 p.m. in the opening round of the NCAA tournament.
