HAYWARD, Calif. — The Northwestern cross country program kicked off its outdoor track season at the Stanford Invitational and Mike Fanelli Track Classic Thursday and Friday.
Junior Aubrey Roberts, fresh off All-America honors at the NCAA Indoor Championships earlier this month, finished 18th in the invite portion of the 5,000-meter at the Stanford Invitational with a time of 16:36.36.
Junior Kelly O'Brien also ran at the Stanford Invitational, finishing seventh in her heat of the 1,500 with a time of 4:27.90.
Five student-athletes competed at the Mike Fanelli Track Classic Thursday and Friday.
Senior Isabel Seidel and junior Sarah Nicholson kicked off the competition on Thursday. Seidel finished 11th overall in the 3,000-meter steeplchase in 10:42.19, while Nicholson finished ninth in the 10K in 35:31.34.
First year Rachel McCardell led a trio of 'Cats on the track at the Fanelli Classic on Friday, taking first in her section and finishing 28th overall in the 1,500 with a time of 4:37.57. Sielle Kearney finished 45th in the 5k (17:14.73) and sophomore Amanda Davis finished 65th in the 1,500 in 4:48.90.
Northwestern will be back in action next weekend at the Benedictine Invitational in Lisle, Illinois.
