NU Falls to Mizzou, 9-4

COLUMBIA, Mo. — Northwestern was topped by Missouri, 9-4, on Sunday afternoon at Taylor Stadium.

Senior infielder Jack Dunn increased his on-base streak to 39-straight games, dating back to last season, with a 2-for-4 afternoon. He also added a pair of RBI — with a game-tying single in the fourth inning — and scored a run. The Georgia native increased his batting average to a team-best .380 and now has a team-high eight RBI this season.

The Wildcats struck first in the contest, scoring a pair in the first inning, but Mizzou came back to score four in the first. The game went scoreless for a couple innings before NU struck again with the Dunn two-RBI single.

MU scored five runs, combined, in the fifth and sixth innings to give them a 9-4 lead, the eventual final score.

Sophomore Anthony Alepra ended the game by tossing 2.0-shutout IP, striking out three and not issuing a walk.

NU is back in action on Tuesday, March 12, for their home opener. The 'Cats will welcome MacMurray, and the contest will start at 3 p.m. CT.
