EAST LANSING, Mich. — Redshirt sophomore Sebastian Rivera used a dominating performance to pick up a major decision victory in Friday night's dual against Michigan State at the Jenison Field House.
Rivera (125), the top-ranked wrestler in his class, improved to 20-0 with a 13-3 major decision over No. 7 Rayvon Foley.
The victory was Rivera's sixth over a ranked opponent this year and third ranked bonus-point victory of the campaign.
Redshirt sophomore Ryan Deakin — ranked No. 3 in the nation — gave the Wildcats their second win of the evening with a 7-3 decision over Jaden Enriquez. The victory was his team-best 21st win of the season.
Redshirt first-year Tyler Morland gave NU back-to-back wins and a 10-9 lead. He topped the Spartans' Logan Ritchie via 5-2 decision.
Michigan State won the dual, 30-10.
The Wildcats are back in action on Sunday at 11 a.m. against the #4 Michigan Wolverines. The dual will be broadcast on BTN.
