'Cats Wrap Up Day 1 at Tri-Dual

Evanston, Ill. -- The 'Cats wrapped up a successful day one of their tri-dual meet against Minnesota and Purdue Friday evening at the Norris Aquatics Center.

The women's 200 medley relay team of Calypso Sheridan, Sophie Angus, Miriam Guevara and Malorie Han kicked things off, bringing home the victory with a time of 1:39.52.

Sophomore DJ Hwang put up a season-best time of 9:12.08 to finish first in the 1000 free. On the women's side, sophomore Ilektra Lebl finished second in 10:03.81, while junior Sandra Freeman clinched a personal best time of 10:24.37.

Senior Liam Gately and junior Krystal Lara each claimed the second spot in the 200 free. Gateley touching in a  time of 1:38.02, while Lara swam a season-best 1:50.06.

First years Andrew Zhang and Manu Bacarizo finished 2-3 in the 100 back, touching the wall with times of 49.12 and 49.20, respectively. Baracarizo's time marks his best on the season. Zhang went on to swim a season-best 50 free, finishing with a time of 20.49.

Sheridan picked up a victory in the 200 IM, touching the wall in 2:00.12. She also swam a 54.03 100 back, taking second place.

Senior Olivia Rosendahl scored a 320.05 on the three meter, grabbing second.

Chicago's Big Ten Team returns to the pool tomorrow at noon for the final session of the meet. Senior Day ceremonies will precede the session and are set to kick off at 11:45 a.m.
