EVANSTON, Ill. — Northwestern wrestling is set to host No. 1 Penn State on Friday at 7 p.m. in the new Welsh-Ryan Arena.
The Wildcats will host the Two for Takedown Night to go along with the match. Early-arriving fans can grab Two for Takedown foam fingers and students can get free Buffalo Wild Wings. Faculty/staff can get $2 off their tickets for the match and an autographed poster of the team. All fans in attendance can also purchase tickets to future matches for $2 off.
Redshirt sophomore Sebastian Rivera — the top-ranked wrestler in the nation — will look to keep his unbeaten season going against the Nittany Lions. He is projected to match up against sophomore Devin Schnupp (5-6).
Rivera moved to 14-0 with a first-period pin over No. 12 Zeke Moisey of Nebraska in last weekend's dual against the Huskers. Rivera moved up to no. 1 among wrestlers in the 125-pound weight class with the win.
Along with Rivera's matchup, No. 3 Ryan Deakin and No. 18 Conan Jennings will both have highly-anticipated bouts against No. 1 Jason Nolf and No. 4 Anthony Cassar, respectively.
The match will be NU's second in the Big Ten following a setback to No. 11 Nebraska on Sunday. Sophomore Colin Valdiviez and junior Shayne Oster joined Rivera in winning their bouts against the Cornhuskers.
