Las Vegas, NV. - Sophomore duo Jordan Hamilton and Lindsey Pulliam recorded a combined 31 points in the final game of the Duel in the Desert against Kansas but it was not enough to get past the Jayhawks as the Wildcats fell 66-57 in Las Vegas.
Jordan Hamilton led the team 17 points, recording a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line and dishing out 4 assist while Pulliam recorded her tenth straight double digit scoring effort this season with 14. The Silver Spring, MD. native also earned All-Tournament team.
The Wildcats trailed by 10 in the third quarter and cut the deficit down to one but entered the fourth quarter down by eight. With a little over two minutes to go, the 'Cats were within six but the Jayhawks pulled away for the win.
First year Veronica Burton continued to be a consistent piece of the Wildcat offense, notching 11 points, her second double-digit game this season while pushing out three assists and swiping four steals. Junior Abi Scheid contributed nine points and pulled down seven boards.
The Northwestern defense once again smothered a team to double-digit turnovers with 19 and recorded four blocks.
With the conclusion of the tournament, the Wildcats close out their non-conference schedule with a 7-4 record and will open Big Ten play at Rutgers on Dec. 28. Tip off for that game is set for 3 pm CST.
