Evanston, Ill. – Northwestern [5-1, 0-0 B1G] returns home to the new Welsh-Ryan Area Wednesday, Nov. 28, when it hosts Georgia Tech [4-1, 0-0 ACC] at 8:15 p.m. CT in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.
The Wildcats make their homecoming after picking up two wins at The Wooden Legacy tournament in Fullerton, Calif. last week. Northwestern fell in the first round to Fresno State, but bounced back quickly to knock off La Salle and Utah in its final two games.
This will be the second year in a row that Northwestern matches up against Georgia Tech in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. Last year the Yellow Jackets knocked off the Wildcats, 52-51, in Atlanta, Ga.
Northwestern will look to seniors Vic Law and Dererk Pardon to continue their hot hands. Law has scored double-digit points in each of the Wildcats' first six games and leads the team with 18.5 points per game, while Pardon is averaging 12.3 points per game and leads the 'Cats with 9.5 rebounds. Pardon hasn't missed a shot in his last two games, shooting 9-for-9 in that span, which includes connecting on his first-career 3-pointer (vs. Utah, 11/25/18).
Defensively, the Wildcats are playing some of the best basketball under Chris Collins. The team forced 21 turnovers against Utah in its 79-57 win, the second-most ever in the Chris Collins' era.
The contest will be broadcast on ESPNU and WGN Radio AM-720.
