Quotables: Northwestern vs. American

The Wildcats look to get off to a 2-0 start against American on Monday night at 7 p.m. at the new Welsh-Ryan Arena. Here is what is being said in anticipation of that matchup...

"All my guys have green lights. I'm a fun guy to play for when it comes to that and you're not gonna get yelled at for shooting the ball. I might get on you for lack of effort or not being a good teammate or not being locked into some of our game-plans. But I was a gunslinger when I played, so I want all of our guys to shoot freely. I want them to take their shots and be cocky with them and all of them have the green light in that regard."
-Sullivan-Ubben Head Men's Basketball Coach Chris Collins on his coaching mentality with regards to shooting

"We're playing three freshmen and two transfers and we're trying to figure it out. We're just beginning this thing, but I really like the vibe of our guys. We're a together group, we're playing really hard, we're committed and connected on the defensive end of the floor and I think that'll carry most nights."
-Sullivan-Ubben Head Men's Basketball Coach Chris Collins on the team's outlook moving forward

"I guess it's cool. I'm more happy that we won. I remember last year [in our season opener], we played a Loyola team and only won by one, so I'm happy that this year we did our business and played very well. But 1,000 is cool and I'm happy to be in a prestigious group of people at this University and it's a special achievement."
-Fifth-year senior Vic Law on reaching 1,000 career points
