Northwestern Handles Rutgers in Four Sets

EVANSTON, Ill. — Northwestern picked up its first victory at the new Welsh-Ryan Arena on Saturday night with a four-set triumph over Rutgers.
 
The Wildcats will be back in action on Wednesday at home to take on No. 4 Illinois. Action will start at 7 p.m.

TEAM NOTES:
  • Northwestern is 6-0 against Rutgers all-time.
  • Tonight's win against the Scarlet Knights gives the 'Cats a 4-2 record in their last six games.

  • Junior Sarah Johnson finished with 10 digs, tied for her second-most in a Big Ten match this season.

  • S1 | The 'Cats ended the set with five players having multiple kills, led by Cannon's four ... Northwestern took the set, 25-20.
  • S2 | Northwestern out-hit Rutgers .235 to .111 for the set. The 'Cats held off the Scarlet Knights to win the set, 25-17.
  • S3 | The Wildcats and Rutgers battled throughout the set, but Rutgers closed on a 4-0 run.
