EVANSTON, Ill. — Northwestern was in action at historic Beardsley Gym on Saturday night, taking on No. 13 Michigan and celebrating their annual Dig Pink night in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month.
The Wildcats played neck-and-neck volleyball with the highly-ranked Wolverines, but fell in three sets.
Northwestern will be back on the court on Oct. 24 to take on Iowa at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

- Northwestern had 30 kills, 28 assists, and 26 digs.
- Northwestern out-blocked their opponent for a second-straight match, finishing with 10.5 blocks compared to nine blocks from Michigan.
- Northwestern outhit Michigan in the second set with a .219 hitting percentage to their .188 clip.
INDIVIDUAL NOTES:
- First-year Michelle Lee finished with a match-high 12 digs … She has notched double-digit digs in 13 of 22 matches this season.
- Sophomore Britt Bommer finished with a team-high 26 assists … She also had two blocks and finished just one kill short of her career high with two on the night … Marks the first match in her career with multiple assists, kills, blocks and digs.
- Sophomore Alana Walker had six kills and a team-high five blocks, her fifth match this season recording at least five kills and five blocks.
- First-year Abryanna Cannon finished with eight kills, three blocks and two digs … Also had a service ace in the second set, tying her career high.
- Sophomore Nia Robinson finished tied for the team high with eight kills.
MATCH NOTES:
- S1 | Northwestern had four players with multiple kills in the first set, with first-year Ella Grbac racking up four while Cannon, Robinson and Walker each had two. However, the 'Cats dropped the set 25-17.
- S2 | Wildcats racked up six team blocks in the second set with three players each recording two blocks. Bommer, Grbac, and Walker each had two blocks, but the 'Cats dropped the second set, 25-23.
- S3 | Cannon and Robinson led the 'Cats in the third set with three kills apiece as the 'Cats dropped set three, 25-14.
