CHICAGO – Northwestern's Ty Seager struck first to put Northwestern in front in the fifth minute, but UIC countered with a trio of unanswered goals to top the Wildcats, 3-1, Tuesday night.
Northwestern drops to 4-7-4 on the season and it was the first time the 'Cats have suffered a setback to a Chicago rival since 2016. UIC improved to 10-3-1 on the campaign.
First year Jose De Valle set up Seager's goal in the fifth minute with a through ball down the center of the field that Seager took and put away for his second goal of the season. He became the fifth Wildcat player this season with multiple goals. Del Valle picked up his second assist of his rookie campaign.
All three of UIC's goals came in the second half.
Sophomore keeper Miha Miskovic faced 26 shots and made nine saves.
The Wildcats return to action on Friday, Oct. 19 at 6 p.m. CT when they hit the road to face Michigan State.
