FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The Wildcats (7-2, 0-0 Big Ten) had a Saturday split, topping Butler in four sets before falling to Arkansas in the nightcap.
 
Northwestern has one more nonconference tournament next weekend in Chicago. The 'Cats will play against UIC, DePaul, and Loyola-Chicago on September 14-15 at Gentile Arena.
 
NORTHWESTERN 3, BUTLER 1 (23-25, 26-24, 27-25, 25-13)
 
TEAM NOTES:
  • Northwestern improves to 2-0 all-time against Butler.
  • The Wildcats extended their winning streak to four-straight matches, marking a season-high.
  • NU accumulated 11 blocks, its second-most in a single-match … Trails only its 14-block effort against Milwaukee (8/25).
  • The 'Cats limited Butler to a .070 hitting percentage.
 
INDIVIDUAL NOTES:
  • Nia Robinson led the team and posted a season-high with 20 kills.
  • Michelle Lee registered a team-high 28 digs … That mark is tied for the fourth-most in a four-set match in Northwestern history … The most since Carolina Niedospial logged 34 against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (Sept. 5, 2015).
  • Hanna Lesiak notched a career-high with 11 digs, second-most on the team.
  • Britt Bommer led the way with 30 assists … Kiara McNulty added 20 helpers.
 
MATCH NOTES:
  • S1 | Nia Robinson came out of the gate strong, notching seven kills … However, Butler outlasted Northwestern and won, 25-23.
  • S2 | Nia Robinson again paced the Wildcats' offensive effort with six kills and led NU to a 26-24 second-set equalizer.
  • S3 | Northwestern limited Butler to a -.019 hitting percentage and took the third set, 27-25.
  • S4 | The Wildcats dominated the final set to down Butler, 25-13.

TEAM NOTES:
  • Northwestern fell to Arkansas in its first-ever matchup with the program.
 
INDIVIDUAL NOTES:
  • Nia Robinson has logged a double-digit kill performance in every match this season … She led the team with her 11 kills … Also led the squad with her .391 hitting percentage, only making two errors.
  • Britt Bommer logged a team-high 30 assists … Her second-straight match with 30-plus helpers.
  • Michelle Lee had a team-high 16 digs … She is averaging 22.0 digs per match in her last two competitions.
 
MATCH NOTES:
  • S1 | Michelle Lee had six digs and the Wildcats fell to Arkansas, 25-17.
  • S2 | Nia Robinson and Alana Walker combined for eight digs … NU fell, 25-19.
  • S3 | The Wildcats posted their best single-set hitting percentage (.333) of the competition, but fell to Arkansas, 25-22.
