ERIN, Wis. — Paced by a 4-under opening round by first-year Lucas Becht, Northwestern men's golf is in first place after 18 holes in the Marquette Intercollegiate at Erin Hills.

Becht, who is in second place and one stroke back from the lead, registered a career-best 68 in his young collegiate career.
Northwestern was 2-under on the day, one stroke ahead of Arizona State and Iowa, both tied for second place.
In all, four 'Cats were in the top-20 after the first round, and all were in the top-30.
Sophomore Eric McIntosh is tied for 11th after an even-par 72, while senior Ryan Lumsden and junior Everton Hawkins both carded 1-over 73s and are tied for 20th place.
First-year David Nyfjäll shot a 2-over 74 and is tied for 30th, while senior Pete Griffith, entered as an individual, is tied for 57th (+5).
The Wildcats tee off the first hole in the second round tomorrow, starting at 9:55 a.m. CT. Griffith will tee off the 10th hole at 11:01 a.m. CT.
The final round will take place on Tuesday.
