EVANSTON, Ill. — Sophomore goaltender Miha Miskovic was named Big Ten's Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.
Miskovic had two shutouts in 188 minutes of play to help the Wildcats to an overall record of 4-1-1 to end the week.
The Zemun, Serbia native added the fourth shutout to his resume following an overtime win against Loyola. During this game, made two saves with six shots faced.
Against UMKC, Miskovic recorded an additional shutout, making three saves on eight shots faced. Two of his three saves came in the final five minutes of the game, which helped him preserve his fifth shutout of the season.
This is Miskovic's second Defensive Player of the Week honors for the 2018 season.
Northwestern will stay in Evanston to start Big Ten conference play against the University of Maryland. The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 14 at Martin Stadium.
